ZIP as downloaded · several files at once are fine

Your chats are opened in this browser tab and never uploaded.

How to get your export

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data controls and click Export data, then Confirm export.
  2. OpenAI emails you a download link, usually within minutes (large accounts can take longer). The link expires after 24 hours.
  3. Download the ZIP and drop it here as it is — no need to unzip it.

How to export a ChatGPT chat to Word

  1. Download your ChatGPT data export and drop the ZIP above.
  2. Open the conversation and click Word.
  3. Open the .docx in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages and edit it like any document.

Why not copy and paste?

Pasting from the ChatGPT window drags in web styles, loses table borders and often turns code into proportional text. The exported document uses proper Word styles instead: headings for structure, a monospace style for code, real tables and bullet lists, and a label above every message.

Need many chats in Word? Use Export many chats at once → Word files (ZIP).
