How to export Claude conversations
- In Claude, go to Settings → Privacy → Export data and wait for the email.
- Download everything from the email. Newer exports arrive as a manifest file plus several ZIPs such as
conversations-000.zip— select them all and drop them above together. - Pick a chat, then save it as PDF, Markdown, Word or HTML, or export many chats at once.
What is shown
- Your messages and Claude's answers with full formatting.
- Files you attached, with their extracted text (click to read).
- Extended thinking and tool use (web search, analysis, MCP tools) — switch them on with the Thinking and Tool calls toggles.
- Conversations from every part of a split export, without duplicates.
Private by design
Chat history is personal: work notes, health questions, drafts. This viewer reads the export file inside your browser tab with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and closing the tab forgets everything. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
My Claude export came as several files. Which one do I open?
All of them. Select every downloaded file (the manifest and each ZIP) and drop them together; the viewer combines the parts.
Are Claude Projects included?
Conversations that happened inside a project are in the export like any other chat and appear in the list.
Can I export a single Claude chat without exporting all my data?
Claude doesn't offer per-chat export, so the data export is the way to get a complete copy. After that you can save chats one by one here.
Is it safe to open my chat export here?
Yes. The file is read locally by your browser; it is never sent to a server. The site has no login and stores nothing about your chats.
