Your chats are opened in this browser tab and never uploaded.

How to get your export

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data controls and click Export data, then Confirm export.
  2. OpenAI emails you a download link, usually within minutes (large accounts can take longer). The link expires after 24 hours.
  3. Download the ZIP and drop it here as it is — no need to unzip it.

How to convert ChatGPT chats to Markdown

  1. Download your ChatGPT data export (ZIP) and drop it above.
  2. For one chat: open it and click Markdown. Chats with pictures download as a ZIP with an images/ folder.
  3. For everything: open Export many chats at once, choose Markdown files (ZIP) and download.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Obsidian?

Yes. Unzip the download into your vault; each chat is a standard Markdown note and images are linked with relative paths.

Are the reasoning (thinking) steps included?

Only if you tick Thinking above the chat before exporting. They are added as collapsible <details> blocks.

My export is several gigabytes. Will it work?

Usually, yes. Images stay inside the ZIP and are read only when you open a chat with pictures. The limit is the size of the conversation text: a conversations.json of a few hundred megabytes works in desktop Chrome, Edge and Firefox; phones have less memory.

Is it safe to open my chat export here?

Yes. The file is read locally by your browser; it is never sent to a server. The site has no login and stores nothing about your chats.
