Request the export
- Open ChatGPT on the web, click your profile picture and go to Settings → Data controls.
- Click Export data, then Confirm export.
- Wait for the email from OpenAI. It contains a download link that is valid for 24 hours.
What's in the ZIP
conversations.json— every chat, in a machine-readable format (split intoconversations-000.json,-001… for big accounts).chat.html— the same chats as one big web page.- Images you uploaded or generated, and small account files like
user.jsonandmessage_feedback.json.
The JSON is hard to read directly; drop the ZIP into the viewer below to browse, search and convert it.
Export not working?
- No email: check spam and promotions; large accounts can take hours. Request again only if nothing arrives within a day.
- Link expired: links last 24 hours. Request a new export.
- Download fails or the ZIP won't open: download again on a stable connection; a cut-off ZIP can't be read by any program.
- Business or Enterprise workspace: the export option may be disabled by your administrator.

How to get your export
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data controls and click Export data, then Confirm export.
- OpenAI emails you a download link, usually within minutes (large accounts can take longer). The link expires after 24 hours.
- Download the ZIP and drop it here as it is — no need to unzip it.
- In Claude, open Settings → Privacy and click Export data.
- Anthropic emails you a download link. Newer exports come as several files (a manifest plus
conversations-000.zip, …). - Select all the downloaded files and drop them here together, or drop the single ZIP if you got one.
- Go to takeout.google.com, click Deselect all, then tick My Activity.
- Under Multiple formats set Activity records to JSON, and under All activity data included choose only Gemini Apps.
- Create the export, download the Takeout ZIP and drop it here.

Yes. The file is read locally by your browser; it is never sent to a server. The site has no login and stores nothing about your chats.
